Outrage

14 kids under 7! To a single mom!

I have many opinions on this situation. None of them very nice. As it is not my place to judge, I will not give a blow by blow about why this is SO wrong. I will keep those feelings to myself (for now).

I was already outraged and incensed by this story...a mother of six kids under the age of 7 has 8 more. When there are so many children in this world needing homes and families.

Then I found out she was single. I'm not sure I have ever felt more like punching someone in the face more. I, too, am single. I, too, have always longed to be a mom. I, too, have grown up my whole life believing that motherhood was my ultimate dream.

I made the choice to fulfill that dream by sharing my love with a child whose dreams were filled with uncertainty and fear. I chose not to bring a new life into the world when there are so many children already in this world who want a mother. (I do not shun those single women who do responsibly choose to have artificial means to bring a biological child into the world, that is their choice.)

I fear that these 14 children will grow up feeling like they are living in an orphanage with a single nanny. Why bring a child into this world for a subpar existence?

I agree about wanting to punch someone in the face! I hate this story! It is the most ridiculous thing I've heard/seen. What women in their right mind would do that to all those poor little children. Glad we can vent together!

I'm with you all the way Jill. I think I'm more upset with the physician who implanted 6 embryos into the uterus of a single woman with 6 kids at home. Just like the Duggers, it will be a media spectacle, and someone will pay for a special or TV show, and she'll never want for money again. PATHETIC!

I totally agree and have been outraged ever since hearing this story...and even more outraged when I saw the mother being interviewed on the Today Show!

I agree with you completely and it makes me so ANGRY to hear this woman asking for money and to know that she has no way to support these poor children just makes it even worse! Here I am waiting to find a husband and to have children and here is this woman who's already had so many children and then she has 8 more? Ever time I hear about it makes me want to cry (might have to do with the fact that I just had another birthday & I'm still single!)! Yikes she has no clue? Plus where is the responsibility in this situation? Also she wants to charge money for exploiting her children! I'm just so sad for those kids. Thanks for putting your opinion out there and feel free to vent to me whenever you want because I'm with you! I feel the same way which is why if I don't find my Prince Charming I'm going to adopt not go out and have a baby when there are so many out there who needs families! That being said I still want to adopt even if I do get married. Okay I better get off my soapbox now!

I too was incredibly irritated with this story. Its rediculous on so many levels. She's unemployed, single, and my question is who paid for the implantation and who thought that was a good idea?

I don't get it.

I did read somewhere that she's disappointed she hasn't gotten any free hand outs for having the second set of octuplets.

Sorry we haven't commented much lately. We're definitely checking in though. Thanks for the big hair post. We tried out the shampoo tonight. Poor guy...he always smells like a girl. Don't they market any of this stuff to men? :)

I am lovin' all the different hair do's on Mari. She always looks so cute!

Thanks for all the updates! Sounds like I need to make the move to Facebook though...
