Mari's been begging for earrings for a very long time, always trying to put things in her ears as pretend earrings and always trying to put mine in her non-existent holes. So I finally decided to let her do it as long as she had a clear understanding that it would hurt. She almost backed out at the last minute but then decided to do it. She screamed bloody murder and cried for awhile but got over it quickly with an ice-cream supper.
Mari passed the first reading circle at her new school!! To pass, they have to know the letters by sound and both the capital and lowercase. Yay Mari!!

Mari loving the swingset in her backyard.
Mari always takes her "Mari book" to bed with her. Sometimes I hear her telling her stuffed animals "when I was a little baby in Ethiopia, Mommy came and found me and Granddad came too but Grandma stayed home to take care of my Ollie-dog for me."
Getting a jumpstart on teenager years?
The cousins waiting in eager anticipation for the new swingset to be ready.
